The Treasure Trove Approach to Authentication

At Treasure Trove Auctions, we take the verification of historical and collectible items seriously.
Our goal is to provide buyers with well-researched, transparently sourced artifacts while maintaining the highest possible standards in our authentication process.

How We Source Our Items

We acquire items exclusively from reputable and verifiable sources, including but not limited to:

Private collectors with documented holdings and historical provenance.
Families with direct lineage to historical figures or events.
Recognized auction houses with well-documented inventories.
Estate sales and warehouse discoveries, vetted for authenticity.
International military and antique trade shows, where historical artifacts are sourced.

Our Research & Verification Process

Every item we list undergoes a rigorous examination process conducted by veteran collectors and researchers with decades of experience.
Our team utilizes a private research library and consults established historical sources to assess authenticity.
Whenever applicable, we:

Cross-reference known examples in museum collections and archives.
Consult with independent experts, historians, and industry specialists for additional verification.
Analyze materials, construction, patina, and markings for historical accuracy and period consistency.
Review auction records, ownership history, and provenance documentation to establish authenticity.

Use of Certificates of Authenticity (COA)

Some items include a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) from a recognized third-party expert, organization, or institution.
If an item comes with a COA, it will be explicitly mentioned in the listing.
However, the absence of a COA does not indicate inauthenticity, nor does the presence of one serve as an absolute guarantee.
As many historical pieces lack formal documentation but are thoroughly verified through other means.

Buyer Confidence & Terms

While we stand by the thoroughness of our vetting process, all sales are final.
We strongly encourage buyers to:

Conduct independent research to verify an item’s authenticity before bidding.
Ask any questions about provenance, materials, or verification prior to purchase.
Analyze materials, construction, patina, and markings for historical accuracy and period consistency.
Review our detailed listings, which provide much detailed information, including historical context and supporting documentation when available.
Review our terms and conditions, which provide as much information as possible as it pertains to how Treasure Trove operates.

Transparency & Integrity

We are committed to a straightforward, research-driven approach to authentication.
Every description we provide is based on meticulous research, expert consultation, and available provenance records, all when available.
However, as with all historical collectibles, no guarantees of absolute authenticity are made.

For further clarification on our authentication practices, please consult our Terms & Conditions, which serve as the final governing policies for all transactions.
